If you are the primary breadwinner in Louisiana and divorcing. Are you entitled to a greater share of profits?
Nope. Marriage is a partnership. Louisiana is also a community property state. ets acquired or combined during the marriage are split usually 50/50. The exception is if you had a prearrangement (such as a business) prior or during the marriage. For instance, my bf's brother started a restaurant during his marriage and during the formation, had it legally separated from the marriage (she was not involved in the activity). Only profits he took as payment from the restaurant were considered marital property.
